In-Comm Training partners with Next Gen Makers to support West Midlands manufacturers

One the UK’s leading engineering apprenticeship training providers has partnered with Next Gen Makers to help West Midlands manufacturers attract more young engineers.

In-Comm Training, which supports 750 apprenticeships every year across its three academies in Aldridge, Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury, has signed up as headline sponsor of the Walsall/Cannock region of the Next Gen Makers’ Engineering Careers Prospectus 2020.

The online platform and printed publication will provide a comprehensive resource of engineering careers information for Secondary School and Sixth Form students in years 10 and upwards.

It will give budding engineers access to information promoting the benefits of Apprenticeships, the career pathways they could follow and a selection of places they could study or train at so they are well placed to secure a job in industry.

There will also be a separate section profiling a variety of local manufacturing and engineering firms, providing an insight into the type of positions and exciting companies they could work for locally.

“We all have a role to play in raising the profile of engineering and manufacturing with young people, whether you are an employer, a school, involved in higher education or a training provider,” commented Paul Hodgetts, Business Development Advisor at In-Comm Training.

“There’s no point trying to work in isolation. We need to join forces to shout about the opportunities and how a career in industry can be well paid, exciting, allow you to travel the world and can see you play a role in designing and making products that can change the way we live.

“Next Gen Makers’ Prospectus brings lots of crucial information together in an easy-to-access place, whilst also showcasing some of the region’s best training providers and manufacturers. We’re 100% behind it and what it is trying to achieve.”

Set to launch in March 2020 as an online resource supported by a printed counterpart, the Next Gen Makers’ Engineering Careers Prospectus 2020 covers 6 areas in total; Dudley, Walsall & Cannock, Sandwell, Redditch & Bromsgrove, Wolverhampton and Birmingham.

A number of promotional events will be held in schools across these towns and cities over the next 12 months to raise awareness and engagement.

Adam Tipper, Director at Next Gen Makers, commented: “We are delighted to partner with In-Comm Training and have them involved in our 2020 Engineering Careers Prospectus.

“Our schools and young people currently lack a comprehensive resource that gives a full picture of what a career in engineering might look like, where to find Apprenticeships and the types of companies where they could start a career in the sector.

“Flipping the coin and with demand outstripping supply for young engineers, manufacturers now have a targeted platform to boost awareness and interest among the talent pool of the future.

“By being profiled in the Prospectus, manufacturers, such as members of the In-Comm Training and Manufacturing Group, will also inspire more young people to pursue a career in industry and change the widespread mis-conceptions of what engineering in 2020 is actually like.”

Employers and In-Comm TMG members that would like to benefit from being profiled in the prospectus should email adam@nextgenmakers.co.uk for more information.
