STEM Engagement
What is STEM?
At In-Comm Training we are passionate about having a skills strategy for developing STEM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) to address the current skills shortage.
There has been a call from industry for some time to government to have a clear STEM skills strategy.
Our STEM engagement fund looks to address this with of localised bespoke strategy that addresses the needs of In-Comm businesses.

Apprenticeship Taster Days
Our apprenticeship taster days are designed to help students experience the day in a life of an apprentice.
By the end of the Taster Day they will have gained key skills, knowledge and understanding to enable them to make a more informed choice. Our taster days are bespoke, which means the programme will be planning to address the needs of the group. The day is open to students currently studying in Year 10, 11, 12 and 13.
There is currently a shortfall of 173,000+ workers in STEM sectors:
an average of 10 unfilled roles per business in the UK.
A recent skills survey identifies that half (49%) of engineering and technology businesses are experiencing difficulties in the skills available to them when trying to recruit. This has a serious negative impact on our economy, which is estimated to suffer a loss of £1.5bn per year due to these engineering and technology skills shortages.
