In-Comm and Brandauer have joined forces to create the UK’s first £1m advanced training academy embedded in a world-class commercial toolroom.
Hosted at our Aldridge site, training is unlike anything currently on the market, with individuals able to learn on live tooling projects that are producing hundreds of thousands of parts every week
It gives the sector the opportunity to reverse the declining skills trend in this discipline by offering companies access to professional toolmaking courses, upskilling opportunities for qualified engineers looking to diversify their skills and a Level 6 Tool Process Design Apprenticeship to develop the next generation of talent.
JLR was the first company to back the academy and several SMEs and tier 1s are booked on to the next cohorts.
The partnership between the Telford Academy and Bauromat UK focuses on building a practical, industry-led approach to robotics and automation training. It was developed in response to employer needs and is designed to give learners direct experience with the technologies used in modern manufacturing environments.
Working together, the collaboration delivers a progression pathway from Level 3 Automated Cell Operator through to Level 4 Automation, Robotics and PLCs. Training is delivered using real industrial equipment, including ABB robotic systems and integrated Siemens PLC controls, all set within a fully operational automation cell.

This partnership equips apprentices and professionals with hands-on experience in precision engineering, smart manufacturing, and data-driven processes.
As a key representative of the metalforming sector, the CBM and In-Comm work closely together to deliver high-quality apprenticeship programmes and professional development opportunities for fastener manufacturers, forgers, sheet metal workers and pressing experts.
This has gone one stage further with the Confederation of British Metalforming playing a key role in the launch of the Level 6 Tool Process Design course.
