Metrology – Advanced Calypso Coordinate Measuring Machine Programming Course
Introduction

Zeiss’ Calypso software is a commonly used programming language for programming coordinate measuring machines, often referred to as CMM. CMM are used for the dimensional measurement and inspection of precision parts. For example, aerospace parts, gears or medical devices in a wide range of industries.

With an understanding of Calypso’s basic functionality. Course attendees can step up to the advanced Calypso course. Allowing delegates to gain greater in-depth knowledge of advanced alignments and free form scanning techniques.

This four-day course is focused on those who have a basic understanding of Calypso’s functionality or similar industry experience with an understanding of technical drawings. The course aims to provide delegates with the skills to operate Calypso’s software and CMMs at an advanced level, needed for complex part measurement.

  • Review of basic alignments, feature measurements and dimensioning
  • Advanced alignment creation including best fit alignments, RPS alignments, etc.
  • Feature measurement, using CAD’s 2D and 3D features
  • Analog scanning functionality allowing contact scanning of complex forms

This program mixes theory and practical activities in groups of up to three people from the same company. Where learning is applied using Zeiss’ Calypso software and CMMs, with customer specific parts.

  • Review of Calypso’s Core functionality
  • Understanding of Advanced alignment techniques
  • Understanding of Calypso’s CAD Auto features
  • Understanding of Calypso’s analog scanning functionality
