Programmable Logic Control Systems Course
Introduction

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) defines a PLC as a “digitally operating electronic apparatus which uses a programmable memory for the internal storage of instructions by implementing specific functions, such as logic, sequencing, timing, counting, and arithmetic to control through digital or analog I/O modules various types of machines or processes.”  This course is designed for those working with or close to programmable logic control systems, who need to be introduced to them for the first time.

The aim of this two day course is to provide a greater understanding on the programmable logic control system principles to familiarise delegates with how a PLC system functions and the key components in a PLC system.
  • Functions of a PLC System
  • Key Components in a PLC System
  • Understand basic PLC ladder diagrams
  • Build and test PLC systems with basic components

This programme uses a mixture of group discussions, pro-forma examples, information input sessions along with practical application to fully involve participants.

Participants will:

  • Understand basic theory and components of a PLC system
  • Understand the configuration of components in different types of PLC applications
  • Simple troubleshooting of PLC systems
