Develop your workforce in Automation and Robotics

We are proud to have launched our brand new automation line at our state-of-the-art Telford Academy.

Learners will have access to modular level 3-4 courses designed to introduce them to industrial robotic technologies and progress their technical skills to boost productivity.

Importantly, workers will be trained on ABB robots – the line also features an integrated Siemens PLC control system and a state-of-the-art dosing system, fully integrated in a Kyrus guarding enclosure.

Courses Available

Level 3 – Automated Cell Operator
1 day – non accredited

By the end of the course, participants will:

• Know the hazards, health and safety requirements associated with robotic systems safety

• Understand the different types of robots used within the workplace

• Understand the manual operating principles of robots

Level 3 – Industrial Robot Technology
10 days – EAL accredited unit

• Know the hazards, health and safety and maintenance requirements associated with industrial robots and robot work cells

• Understand the operating, design and control principles of modern industrial robots and typical robot work cells

• Understand the operating principles of industrial robot sensors and end effectors

• Be able to produce a working programme for an industrial robot or robot work cells

Level 3 – Programming of Robots
4 days – non accredited

• Know the hazards, health and safety requirements associated with robotic systems safety

• Understand the different types of robots used within the workplace

• Understand the manual operating principles of robots

• Understand robot programming

Level 4 – Automation, Robotics and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) – 10 days – Pearson BTEC accredited

• Understand PLC system operational characteristics and programming languages

• Know how to write PLC programs using a language of their choice

• Understand how to program an industrial robot

• Understand the safety factors involved in the design of an automation cell

From getting started to more advanced skills in robotics

Our courses have been designed by talking to employers about what they need, so start with a Level 3 in Automated Cell Operator for new entrants and then move on to Programming of Robots and a Level 4 Automation, Robotics and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) accredited course.

Investment through the Local Skills Improvement Fund (LSIF)

The new Robotic and Automation training line has been made possible by a £200,000 investment through the Local Skills Improvement Fund (LSIF) and the Marches Education Partnership.

We have also joined forces with Telford-based Bauromat UK to design the facility and come up with a solution that will give learners access to technology that is being used on shopfloors now and in the future.
