Meet the Team – Jayne Guest
We sat down with Jayne Guest, Apprenticeship Engagement Manager, to find out more about her role.
How long have you been at In-Comm Training for?
I’ve been working at In-Comm Training for around 12 months.
What is your role?
I focus on apprenticeship engagement, which includes talking and advising on all things apprenticeships to everyone and anyone!
What is the best thing about your job?
Getting to work with schools, giving advice and guidance to potential apprentices of the future and engaging young people. I also enjoy helping them understand what an apprenticeship is and what is expected of them and just helping the apprentices on their career journey.
If you had to do one In-Comm Training apprenticeship which one would you choose and why?
I’d definitely go for Product Design. This would satisfy my creative soul, so given my time again that would be the one I would choose.
What’s been your proudest moment at In-Comm Training?
Organising successful Open Days and opening the In-Comm doors to young people and businesses to showcase our state-of-the art facilities.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I’m a massive drama queen! I am heavily involved in teaching dance and musical theatre and have recently appeared in Cats at The Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton.
What inspires you?
I get inspired by seeing young people get the job they deserve and giving them the opportunity to shine and start their career.
What advice would you give to people thinking about embarking on an apprenticeship?
Do your research, fail to prepare and prepare to fail! Remember to answer your phone and emails as there have been so many missed opportunities due to this not happening. Ask for feedback, take ownership and, importantly, don’t expect a job to come to you.
